RULES

Art.1 The competition

The second edition of the “Città di Cervignano” music competition is organized by the AGM Academy (ass. AGM – Center for Artistic, Music, Choreutic and Linguistic Studies Aps) of Cervignano del Friuli (UD – Italy). The main scope of the competition is to promote the study of music, increase international exchanges and enhance local talents. The competition is open to young musicians, both male and female, up to 30 years of age of any nationality.

Art.2 Procedures and location

The auditions will held in presence at the locations identified by the AGM Association in Cervignano del Friuli (Ud-Italy) or neighboring cities and they will be evaluated by the committees on 30th, 31st March and 1st and 2nd of April 2023; the concerts of the winners will take place at the Pasolini theater in Cervignano on 31st of March and 2nd of April at 8:30 PM.

Art. 3 Sections

The competition is articulated into 4 sections: I Guitar, II Piano, III Violin, IV Flute. For each section there are different categories depending on the age of the participants.

Art. 4 Repertoire

Section I GUITAR: categories, repertoire and duration:

A0 – Born from January 1st 2015: up to 5 minutes free program

A – Born from January 1st 2013: up to 7 minutes free program

B – Born from 1st January 2011: up to 10 minutes free program

C – Born from 1st January 2009: up to 12 minutes free program

D – Born from 1st January 2005, up to 15 minutes free program

E – Born from 1st January 2001, up to 25 minutes free program

F – Born from 1st January 1993, up to 30 minutes free program

For E and F categories there are two steps: the Eliminatory and the Final, that will be held on the same day. The preliminary round program will be at choice, with a maximum duration of 10’, for the Final Round the duration is set at 25’ for the E category and 30’ for the F category. In the Final Round it is not allowed to perform pieces already presented in Eliminatory. A maximum of 6 candidates are admitted to the Final Round.

D – Born from 1st January 2005, up to 15 minutes free program

E – Born from 1st January 2001, there will be two rounds:

Eliminatory:

  • One of the 12 Fantasies for flute solo by G.Ph.Telemann
  • A piece for flute solo to be chosen from: E.Bozza, Image; J.Ibert, Piece; A.Honneger, Danse de la chevre

Final (maximum 6 candidates admitted):

  • A piece for flute and piano to be chosen from: G.Enesco, Cantabile e presto; G.Fauré, Fantasia; C.Chaminade, Concertino; P.Gaubert, Notturne et Allegro Scherzando

  • First movement of one of the Concerts to be chosen from: F.Devienne, Concerto n.7; Mercadante, Concerto in Mi-minore; C.Reinecke, Concerto

 

F – Born from 1st January 1993, there will be two rounds:

Eliminatory:

  • Two movements from one of the pieces: J.S.Bach, Partita in la-minore or C.Ph.E.Bach, Sonata in la-minore
  • One piece fro flute solo written after 1958, duration must be less then 7 minutes

Final (maximum 6 candidates admitted):

  • Free choice program for flute and piano lasting up to 20 minutes (indicative title S.Prokofiev, Sonata; F.Poulenc, Sonata; A.Jolivet, Chant de Linos; F.Martin, Ballade, A.Casella, Sicilienne et burlesque)

  • First movement of one of the Concerts to be chosen from: J.Ibert, J.Rodrigo, C.Nielsen, A.Khachaturian

Art. 5 – Auditions

According to the calendar decided by the management, the competitors will be called to the auditions. The calendar of the individual categories will be announced on the 25th of March and the competition will be public, depending on the space availability. For more information about the audition schedule, competitors can contact the Academy Secretariat directly or visit the website www.agmaccademia.com

Participants will be required to arrive half an hour before their audition in order to check the attendance. Maximum punctuality is required; any delays will be admitted only by the Jury discretion, before the closing of the Minutes relating to their Category.

Before their Audition, competitors have to provide to the Jury an identity document and 3 paper copies of the pieces that will be performed.

The audition results will be communicated after the judges evaluations.

Art. 6 – Jury

The appointed Jury will be composed by professors from conservatories, professional musicians and orchestra professors. The Jury will express its vote in hundredths after a collective discussion.

The Jury members, who have or had an educational relationship with candidates in the two years preceding the start date of the same, can participate in the discussion but not in the evaluation of the same.

The association reserves the right to replace the announced members of the Jury or form a double commission for the section based on the logistical needs of the competition.

The Jury members are open to meet candidates for a brief comment on the performances after the awards ceremony.

Art. 7 – Score and award

Categories A0-E:

●  The overall winner for each category will be the competitor who has obtained the highest score (and not less) than 98/100.

●  The First place consists of competitors who will have reported a score of not less than 95/100.

●  The Second place consists of competitors who will have reported a score of not less than

90/100.

●  The Third place consists of competitors who will have reported a score of not less than

85/100.

For all the competitors that will achieve the First, Second and Third Place, there will be a medal and diploma.

For all the other competitors, there will be a certificate of participation.

For the competitors who have obtained the highest score in categories D, E, the following prizes are foreseen, one for each section. The prizes will be awarded by the Direction of the Competition on the indication of the various commissions:

I Guitar Section

Category D – A carbon case offered by Bogaro&Clemente

Category E – 1 Prize of € 500.00

II Piano Section

Category D – 1 Prize of € 300.00

Category E – 1 Prize of € 500.00

III Violin Section

Category D – A carbon case offered by Bogaro&Clemente

Category E – 1 Prize of € 500.00

IV Section Flute

Category D – 1 Prize of € 200.00; A carbon case offered by Bogaro&Clemente

Category E – 1 Prize of € 500.00

 

Category F:

For category F the competition provides a First, a Second and a Third Prize for each section.

1st Prize: € 800.00, a Medal and a Diploma

2nd Prize: € 400.00, a Medal and a Diploma

3rd Prize: € 200.00, a Medal and a Diploma

For all the other competitors, there will be a certificate of participation.

The winner must perform free on charge during the Awarding Concert o be held on Friday 31st March 2023 and Sunday 2nd April 2023 at 8:30 pm at the Pasolini theater in Cervignano according to the Program designed by the Academy (if not, the award will be revoked).

Art. 8 – Registration Fee

A, A0, B category: € 30,00

C, D category: € 40,00

E category: € 50,00

F category: € 60,00

Competitors have the chance to be accompanied by their own pianist, for which there is no participation fee.
Competitors have the chance to request to the Accademia the accompanying pianist of the Competition. There will be a supplementary contribution of 50,00 euros. This request has to be done at the time of the registration, WITHIN THURSDAY 1th MARCH 2023 with the attached PDF files of the pieces presented. The files have to be sent to the e-mail address concorso@agmaccademia.com. If the score will be received after the deadline, the organization cannot guarantee the accompanying pianist. On the audition day, according to a calendar published on the site 2 days before there will be a rehearsal with the pianist.

Art. 9 – Application

The application form can be submitted starting from Monday 9th JANUARY 2023 by filling in the specific form prepared by the organization on the website www.agmaccademia.com.
The application, accompanied by proof of payment of the registration fee, must be completed WITHIN AND NOT LATER THAN WEDNESDAY 22nd MARCH 2023.

All bank and / or postal charges are recovered from the competitor. The registration fee is not refundable unless the competition is canceled or the Section is not activated.

Art. 10 – Common regulation

Competitors can enroll in a Category equal to or higher than their age.
For each Category there is a maximum duration limit which does not oblige Competitors to arrive at. In the event that the execution exceeds these limits, the Commission may interrupt the execution. Execution by heart is not required.
The final judgment will be final in all cases
If the maximum number of auditions per section will exceed, the management reserves the right to no longer accept registrations. The order of arrival of the registrations will be taken into account.

Art. 11 – Final regulation

The organization provides to competitors a room for practice upon request, if it’s possible.
Only a piano will be available for candidates. Candidates are required to supply all other instruments useful for their performances.
Registration of the competition implies full acceptance of the Rules contained in the Regulations. The registration fees for the competition include the membership card.
The organization of the competition does not assume responsibility for any risks or damages of any nature to people or things during the event.
The Competition Management may take any decision not specified in the announcement regarding the organization of the Competition itself.

Art. 12 – Privacy

The personal data provided with the application to participate in the Call will be processed in compliance with current legislation pursuant to the GDPR 2016/679 and subsequent amendments and additions.
